Chapter 2


Back at the wedding party, Amy couldn’t stop thinking about Shadow.   

“I sure hope Shadow’s okay.” The rose hedgehog stated as she gazed downwards with a solemn expression on her face. Sometimes she just didn’t know what to do about herself. She cared too much for her friends.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure he’ll be fine.” Sonic answered back with a warm smile.

His comment seemed useless to her however as she answered back in a cheerless voice. “Yeah…I guess so…”

“Why are you so worried about him anyway?” Sonic questioned in confusion.

“Well…It’s just that I have you but Shadow has no one. I’m sure he may find someone too but I still feel bad for him. Couldn’t you at least make sure he’s okay?” Amy finally looked back up to her blue hero and she gazed at him in an almost pleading manner.

“Well…Alright. If it makes you feel better.” Sonic answered back with a look of uncertainty. He could tell that Amy cared a great deal about Shadow and so decided to give in. If she was unhappy then he’d make sure she‘d be happy.

Amy‘s face brightened up. “Thank you Sonic.”

Sonic smiled genuinely, then walked up to her and kissed her on the lips before saying, “I’ll be right back.” The blue hero then winked at her and rushed off in search for Shadow. Amy brought her hand to her lips as she watched him fade into the distance. She couldn’t help but smile at his obvious actions but then could not help but wonder how things were going with Shadow. Ever since everything was resolved in their last battle, Shadow had distanced himself from everyone. Although he did show up for her wedding, she could not help but wonder if everything was alright.


Meanwhile… Back at Shadow’s place…

He was definitely okay. More than okay actually. He finally had someone new to love, except he has no idea who she is exactly.

Shadow is still gazing at Crystal until she then breaks the silence. “Are you just going to stare at me all night or can I at least get some decent sleep?”

Shadow realizes what he was doing and blushes madly. “Sorry…” Then, as if in a daze, he says, “It’s just that your so beautiful.”

Once the ebony one realized what he had just said however, he instantly
placed his hand over his mouth in astonishment. ‘Whoa! Did I just say that out loud?!’

Crystal smiles and blushes at his compliment as she says, “Why thank you.”

Shadow blushes once again. “Well…I guess you should rest some more rest. You looked pretty beat up when I found you. Stay as long as you’d like.”

“Okay…Thanks Shadow.” Crystal answers kindly.

“No problem. Well…Goodnight. See you in the morning.”

Crystal smiles at this and then says, “Goodnight Shadow.”

Shadow then leaves the room and goes to sit on his couch. The dark hedgehog started to ponder on what he had just told Crystal.‘Man…I can’t believe I just said that to her. What was I thinking? I don’t even know who she is. Why do I feel so strange around her? What is this feeling?’ Shadow sighed deeply as he places the palm of his hand on his head. ‘Maybe a walk outside will help me think straight.’

So Shadow gets off of his couch and walks out the front door. Once outside, he notices a blue figure running in the distance. A confused and curious expression crosses over his features. ‘I wonder what he’s doing out here? Shouldn’t he be with Amy?’

Then, before he even knew it, Sonic zoomed right in front of him. “Hey Shadow! You okay?”  

“And why would you care?” Shadow asked as he glared at his rival in annoyance.

Sonic shrugged. “Eh…I don’t. But Amy does for some reason.”

“Really?” Shadow was a bit shocked by this, but then changed his composure completely. “I mean…Well you can tell her that I’m just fine. Now leave me be.” Shadow finished in a more angry manner. He was crossing his arms, as usual.

Sonic wasn’t the least bit shocked by this however. It was normal for Shadow to act this way. The blue hedgehog merely smirked at the dark one‘s actions. “Fine. I will. Bye!” Sonic then leaves Shadow and heads back towards Amy to let her know that Shadow was okay. Sonic is then thinking about Amy. ‘Why is she so worried about Shadow anyway? It’s not like he hasn’t been like this before. Shadow is, well…Shadow.’  

However, what the blue hero doesn’t know is that Shadow has fallen in love with a mysterious girl.

Once Sonic gets back to his party he notices Amy outside waiting for him.

“What are you doing out here Amy?” Sonic questions, shocked that she’d be outside instead of enjoying herself.

“Is Shadow ok?” Amy asks in a worried manner.

“Yeah… He’s fine. Why were you so worried in the first place? You know he can take care of himself.”

Amy sighs at this and says, “I know… I just don’t like seeing him all alone like that. I’ll always have you to love but what about Shadow? He has no one.”

“Since when have you cared about Shadow?” Sonic asks with a questioning look on his face.

Amy couldn’t stand Sonic’s carelessness any longer. “Since he started caring about me!” The pink hedgehog angrily answers back.

Amy then runs away from Sonic and heads towards the forest. ‘Why does Sonic have to be so careless all the time? I know he finally told me how he feels about me and we finally got married, but he still hasn’t changed one bit. I’m wondering if I even made the right choice. Maybe Shadow was the one for me.’ Then out of nowhere Amy notices… a black and red hedgehog that looks exactly like Shadow. Or is it?

“Sha…Shadow? Is that you?” The young newly wed questions.

At first this mysterious hedgehog ponders upon what she said but then decides to play along. “Of coarse it is. Who else would I be?”

Then for no reason whatsoever Amy runs up to the so called “Shadow” and gives him the biggest hug ever. “Oh… Shadow! I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you.”

The look alike Shadow was slightly annoyed by this and said, “You may be doing that right now.”

“Oh… Right. Sorry.” Amy then turns away from him and slightly blushes.

‘Yeah… You better be. Then again, I’m kind of enjoying this.’ The so called Shadow smirks at his thoughts but then stops once Amy turns back to face him.

Amy then says, “Umm…Shadow… Do you think… Oh, I don’t know. It’s just that I think I made the wrong choice about marrying Sonic. I need to ask you something.”

Fake Shadow replies by saying, “And what might that be?”

“Well… Do you maybe… Still have feelings for me?” Amy hesitantly asks.

Now the so called “Shadow” was deep in thought. ‘Hmm… If she’s asking this of Shadow then maybe this girl may be of some use to me.’

“Yes I do. In fact… I love you.”  

He then pulls her close in an embrace and kisses her. It felt like it lasted an eternity for Amy and now she was even more confused as to whom she really loved. But she let this moment last anyway. She finally found her peace and tranquility and nobody could take it away from her, not even Sonic! Or so she thought.

Little did she know that Sonic just caught up to her but wasn’t the least bit thrilled with what he was seeing. He wanted to shout out and say something but didn’t know what to say at this point. Sonic was too shocked for words. ‘But why? Why? Why is she with that good for nothing faker?’ Sonic thinks. This made Sonic more angry than expected. Without thinking Sonic shouts out, “Amy! What are you doing?! I thought you loved me?”

Amy and the Shadow look alike stop kissing and Amy is the first to notice Sonic, of coarse. Amy then says, “Sonic…? What are you doing here?”

“I followed you because I was concerned but now I can see that it doesn’t matter anymore. How could you do this Amy? I thought… Oh… I don’t know what I thought anymore.”

And with that much said, Sonic runs off at the speed of sound to who knows where. Tears could be seen running down his cheeks, but he didn’t care. All his hopes and dreams of his future with Amy were now crushed. And what’s worse is that Amy was in love with his rival Shadow. He just couldn’t take it in anymore. Sonic had to go somewhere besides there. So he just kept running and running with only the rush of the wind to leave behind.

Now Amy didn’t know what to think. What was she doing? Was she really going to throw away her whole relationship and future with Sonic? After all, she was chasing him for the majority of her life, and when she finally got him to be with her she just threw it all away. But how would she win him back after this display?

Unbeknownst to Amy, the so called Shadow was happy at this sight. It made it even easier to get to Shadow. Sonic was now totally against him and Amy was as confused as ever. Now all he had to do was find out where the real Shadow was.
